Mega Food Park


Under the Mega Food Park scheme, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, New Delhi, has invited proposals / Expression of Interest (EOI) on the 9th February 2020 to interested stakeholders for setting up the Mega Food Park.

Accordingly, the MIDC Ltd under the Department of Commerce & Industries, had submitted the proposal on the 23rd May 2020 and the project has been approved by the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) in principle on the 24th November 2020.

The Project to be set up will be at MIDC growth Centre, Mendipathar, Resubelpara, North Garo Hills, This project will envisage the different components like basic enabling infrastructure – Internal Road, Water Storage and Supply System, Boundary and Security Provision, Effluent and Sewerage Treatment Plant with Common Core Facilities – Cold Storage, Ripening Chamber, Modern Warehouse and Spice and Herbs and F&V Drying Line. The Project will also have Incubation Centre, Common Administrative Building etc. An MSME shed of about 5000 Sqm also created for small units. This will be a complete Hub and spoke model.

The project will provide modern Infrastructure facilities for the food processing along the value chain from the farm to the market. It will include creation of processing Infrastructure near the farm, transportation, logistics and centralized processing centers. The expected outcome is increased realization for farmers, creation of high quality processing infrastructure, reduction in wastage, capacity building of producers, processors and creation of an efficient supply chain along with significant direct and indirect employment generation which line with Govt of India objective of doubling the farmers income.

The Project will attract the tentative investment of Rs.315 Crores with an annual turn over of Rs. 500 Crores. This Project will generate direct and indirect employment of about 55000 persons.
